What are the first few weeks/months of mma training like?

Once i turn 16 I going to an MMA gym the does cage fighting and muay thai kickboxing. Im going to give it a try.

I hope you like it, I did when I was your age.  You'll do lots of calisthenics, box drills, traditional western boxing, ab work with medicine balls, wrestling drills like playing 1 on 1 tug-of-war with a towel and other things.  You'll need a lot of water and a lot of rest - those are the main two things.  You may get cauliflower ear and you'll get beat up a lot.  It's unlikely you'll get injured in the beginning.  Injuries usually don't start happening until you start working lower body submissions and take downs.  Most of your initial grappling exercises will start from the ground.  Back in '97 when I started fighters were really just trying to get the sport out there and get sparing partners, so they paid for most of the equipment except mouthpiece and cup.  But now that the sport is popularized, you'll need a lot more of your own equipment, so you'll want to budget at least $100/month in the first few months for equipment.
