  1. That one by Jeff Fuller was the worst one I've seen since 2005 and Gordon's crash this year was a close 2nd, as far as impact goes.  When you catch those goofy openings into the infield, at just the wrong angle, the impact is magnified so much.  The thing about Fuller's was that he sort of wedged into that opening and then he didn't bounce off of it like what would normally happen in a wreck.  I jumped when I saw it, I was watching the race live at the time.  I'd put McDowell's third and am not sure about 4th and 5th.

    3 STR8 N 08!!!

  2. Mike McDowells was one of the worst in recent memory.  I know there has been many and I recall a terrible Elliot Sadler crash.  And then Mike Waltrip's crash when his car just disintegrated!!!   I can't remember when and where for the particular crashes but while looking I came  across this site...WOW!!!

  3. I can't remember some of the dates or tracks, but here are a few:

    Steve Parks...Texas (1997) and Pocono (???)

    Michael Waltrip...Daytona  500 (2004)

    Michael McDowell...Texas (2008)

    Ryan Newman...Daytona 500 (2003)

  4. Somewhere in there has to be Jeff Gordon's crash at Pocono two years ago.

He lost his brakes going into turn 1 and went straight into wall at about 175.

The Impact, is still the highest "G" meter recorded in a NASCAR event.

  5. Here's mine ( my opinion ):

    1. Michael McDowell ( Texas 2008 )

    2. Brad Keselowski ( California 2007 )

    3. Kyle Busch ( Talladega 2007 )

    4. Jeff Gordon ( Charlotte 2007 )

    5. Jeff Gordon ( Las Vegas 2008 )

  6. I can't remember 5 right off the top of my head but i agree with your number one answer.

    1) Mike McDowell at Texas

    2) Jeff Gordon's crash at Vegas(2008) -He said it was the hardest hit of his career, and he's been racing a while
