  1. Andrew, the flaws in a Filipino that would cause him to be a failure in life are the same as the flaws in any human of any nationality that would cause him to fail.

Your question implies that failure  is a common feature among Filipinos, but in my own experience, Filipinos are hard working, loving, generous, insightful, and smart.  Those characteristics have made the Filipinos I know quite successful.

If your intent is to insult the ethnic group, it won't work for those who actually know the facts.  If you are trying to identify the characteristics of those of any nationality who fail, those would be lack of common sense, lack of effort, lack of insight, failure to gather facts before speaking or acting, etc.

  2. Well, maybe it's the fact that after being the site of huge WWII conflict that had nothing to do with them or their culture, their country was turned into the US Pacific armed-forces R&R center (read whorehouse) with a vicious puppet king masquerading as President, followed by his equally gruesome wife and eventually landing with a repressive, military-controlled government that gives little choice to citizens but to either become servants of an occupying power or be classed and treated as "criminals".

That makes three generations of Filipinos who have been raped of both their cultural roots and most freedoms, and who are still continuously subject to one of the least publicized but terrible civil wars -- similarly to other countries where the United States "helps" by moving in.

I'd say under the circumstances that as a nation and people they have done pretty darn well, especially faced with American domination from dopes who think that by repeating idiotic things that what they're doing is making sense.

And as for 'traits', of course there's those funny round nostrils they have in their little noses.

  3. My dear Andrew....

Well....I really don't quite "go along" with your "perception", because all the Filipino people I know are quite respected, hard working, outgoing & friendly people!!! Besides, Andrew...I really don't think that ---"Failure"---is an issue of "nationality"...-or- "ethnic group", but rather an individual "concept", honey !!!

THe Filipino people are real good in the "nursing profession" for instance & are always in "service to others"....so I really do NOT see any "failure" in such dedicated people, Andrew!!!

Wishing you all the best for the future ! Greetings from Germany with lots of love & care....Annette***
