Question:

What are the formulas for calculating bit rates for HDTV???

This question is asking for the formulas, not the answers to these attributes: What is the necessary bit rate for producing an HDTV video production if it is shown 1440 x 900 pixels, progressive scan, with 50 frames per second using RGB with 256 level for each primary color. Again, I need to know how to calculate this - I'm not just looking for the answer.

  1. BitRate = BPP * FPS * W*H

  2. There are two bit rates: Uncompressed video and compressed video.

For uncompressed: W x H x (bits per pixel, in your case 24) x frame rate (50 in your case)

However, HDTV is transmitted compressed, anywhere from 10 to 19 Mbits/s
