  1. the basic formula of exponential growth is

    Ln (Q / q) = (0.6931)(T) / t

    Q = population at time T

    q = initial population at time zero

    T = elapsed time same unit as t

    t = half-life same unit as T

    above formula can be changed in another format

    T = [  Ln(F / P)  ] / [  Ln (1 + R)  ]

    T= elapsed time example year

    F = future population at time T

    P = present population at time zero

    R = population rate of increase in decimal example 0.45/yr

    the unit of R work along with T.  if T is hr, R will be 0.xx/hr
