i know there are a few main types but cant remember them all one is a trailing link suspension, some older planes used elastic bands, modern cessna's use a gas oil shock on the front wheel.

The 4 types are: shock  oleo strut most retractable geared aircraft use this system, bungee like super cubs use, Spring steel like used on Cessna 150's to cessna 208s, and absorbant blocks like used on Dehavilland aircraft such as the Twin otter, Single otter and Beaver.
