(In Australia) A Lintel is a supporting beam across the top of a door or window etc. If it is a brick house then the lintel is the bar of steal that goes across the top of your windows, door lintels are usually "hidden" behind door jam.  If this is the case, because they are rusting, then follow the steps for treating corrosion in galvinised iron.
