What are the functional and vernacular regions for Tanzania?

I do know that:

Functional - defined by a function. For example, service areas.

Vernacular - loosely defined by people's perceptions. Ex: the South, Middle East

However, I don't know what they are for Tanzania specifically and I'm not quite sure how to go about researching it so I am looking to you for help! =)

  1. Functional Regions

The regions of TZ are similar to US states and each region is divided into districts which are similar to US counties.

    Vernacular Regions

Vernacular regions could be by language or tribe. Perhaps even perceived levels of crime or quality of life but I doubt you'll find maps of these for Tanzania.

Map of of local languages, other than Kiswahili, spoken in Tanzania:

I'll try and find a tribal map of Tanzania too
