What are the functions of fructose, sucrose and cellulose in plants?

  1. Fructose's role can be compared to glucose (it does have the same chemical makeup) as a quick source of energy. But it also has a different structure, and will have a different effect on plant cells (see sciencedirect article for example). Sucrose is used as a storage disaccharide  for glucose, and cellulose is utilized as a structural component in plant cell walls.
