  1. To collect deoxygenated blood from the organs and bring them to the heart.

  2. The function of the veins is to carry blood back to the heart. Please don't make the assumption that veins always carry deoxygenated (carbon dioxide-filled) blood - they don't.

In the case of the heart-body system, they do carry deoxygenated blood, but in the case of the heart-lungs system, they carry the freshly-oxygenated blood.

  3. Veins carry blood TO the heart

-oxygenated blood from the lungs to the heart

    - deoxygenated blood from throughout the body to the heart.

Artery's differ from veins as they carry blood FROM the heart

    - Deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs

    - and Oxygenated blood from the heart to the body

So basically the function of veins is to distribute blood to the heart

    hope that makes sense

  4. To move blood throughout the body

  5. Transport blood.
