What are the geographical advantages of living in a valley??

The climate is usually milder in valleys.  They can provide isolation from the areas around them.  Valleys are natural buffers against excessive wind.

there's very little... in pretty much any natural disaster it being in a valley only increases the danger/damage.

i suppose there are good things ...

trap rain good for agriculture, and some wind shelter, and a little less sun if you are in a hot place, and you probabbly have nice views

BUT

if you aren't in a hot dry climate then the valley can be persistently damp and misty and

current worries about global warming and changes in weather patterns means high risk of flooding
