  1. Garbage, garbage, and more garbage. I like my cities clean, and I expect country towns to be clean. I went to work in Ireland last summer, and the endless ciggarette butts and trash strewn everywhere really got to me.

Also, the people were complete jerks. I was there two months and I remember a total of three people who were kind to me. Everyone else, at work, at the store, at restaurants, airports were absolutely, horribly rude. And I'm not a loud American, I'm soft-spoken and polite. I don't know what was the deal.

The landscape is probably the best thing Ireland has going for itself. It is gorgeous. It's cold, and often raining, but on sunny days it's heaven in the countryside.

Food: worst peanut butter ever, but the brown bread is to die for.

  2. Good:

relaxed and easygoing nation of welcoming people

    Guinness and drink

    very productive workforce

    Irish stew

    Green & scenery

    St Patrick's day

    Bad:

    Expensive for what it is

Clichéd aspects (such as Dublin's temple bar which is very fake)

    Poor infrastructure/public transport

  3. depending in which part you go to, it can have beautiful scenery. if you go to a city it can sometimes be a bit loud but like i said depends which part and usually the weather isnt very good.

  4. it's a wonderful place to visit. try not to act too "american". they hate that. (example: locals urinate on the blarney stone at night).

  5. West coast has beautiful scenery, Dublin has everything you're looking for in a city and the people? Well, before I visited there, I was told this phrase: "There are no strangers in Ireland, only friends we have yet to meet." At first I thought it was kinda cheesy, but after my travels, I found it to be quite true. The people of Ireland are some of the most fun, friendly, sincere folk I've ever met.

  6. Good:  The craic, friendly people, lively banter, green fields everywhere, sarcasm is alive & well, good restaurants & pubs, great boutique hotels, exciting designers, great live music........

Bad: Expensive, poor transport, weather, english chain stores, temple bar (hen & stag parties).

  7. Same as everywhere else really, there are bad parts and good parts.

Though generally a friendly bunch of people.

Cork being the best part of the country though

  8. Not much to add on niosfearr's comments, I moved here 8 years ago and it's pretty much spot on.

I would add on the bad side :

    Ludicrous housing prices

  9. Good things are:  The people for the most part are very friendly and helpful, the landscape is beautiful, there are plenty of things to see and do for all ages, the local bus system makes it very easy to see and get around

Bad things are:  The seemingly never-ending rain, it can be pricey there
