  2. I don't know any good things but they are cute!  A bad thing is that you lose them easily and also they die much quicker.  I wouldn't get one.

  3. they are very very good pets to have. they may bite at first but once they get used to you they will stop.

  4. OMIGOSH!!! I love my little dwarf hamsters so much! I really can't think of a down side to them. (Except you have to pay for them and their food.)

    They are cute.

    They love people.

Their bites don't hurt a lot.

Their little feet feel funny when they walk on you.

    All around, THEY ARE AWESOME!!!!

    Good luck with your decision,

  5. If this will be your first hamster pet, I would not recommend having a dwarf hamster, for several reasons. First, if you're interested in handling your hamster with ease, dwarf hamsters are not the hamster for you. If you're interested in having a very active hamster, but you're not looking into holding them that much, then a dwarf hamster will be just fine.

Dwarf Hamsters are the smallest of hamsters, obviously, by their name. There are several types of dwarf hamsters, from Syrian to Roborovski, but they all basically have the same temperament and habits.

I have found the dwarf hamsters awake earlier than any of the other hamsters. In case you didn't know, hamsters are nocturnal, so if you're looking for an animal to play with during the day, a hamster would definitely not be the ideal!

If you buy a wire cage for the hamster, you need to make sure that it is very sturdy, and that the wires are extremely close together. This is because in most wired cages, dwarf hamsters are able to squeeze their body through the wire, thus escaping.

Also, dwarf hamsters are very cool to have run around in a playpen, they're extremely fast on their feet!

  6. the good- they can fit in any hamster cage and the tubes

    the bad- they are aggressive

  7. i like dwarf hammies much better than regular hammies, but the fact that they are so small does have its problems.....

since they are so small they get sick a little more, especially if you dont keep up with cleaning and fresh food/water. they are also more energetic so they make a little more noise at night, but nothing too terrible. they also seem to not live quite as long as regular hammies.

  8. We have a dwarf hamster and I think that they are very cute but they are also slippery little things.  This thing can fly out of your hands so quick it's ridiculous. Just hope that you don't have any cats because they get loose easy!!!!

  9. There are four types of dwarf hamsters - Campbells, Winter Whites, Chinese and Robos.

Dwarf russian campbells and dwarf winter white russian Hamsters are much less tolerant of clumsy handling than the Syrian Hamster and so are not a suitable pet for younger children. This fact, together with their small size and lively nature means they are a pet more suited to older teenagers and adults.

Chinese hamsters, although small, require a relatively large cage. They are usually very placid natured and tend to be "quiet" and less lively when handled than the other species of hamsters and so are more suitable for young children than Russian Hamsters. However, due to their small size and timid nature they can be difficult to catch and a young child will find a Syrian Hamster a more suitable pet.

Roborovski hamsters are extremely small and fast making them very difficult to handle even by adults. They are sociable and an amusing pet to observe because of their lively and fast nature but they not a pet that is easily handled. Roborovski hamsters also require a large cage due to their highly active nature.

Some general facts about dwarf hamsters -

It is a myth that dwarfs have to be kept together. Do not keep dwarfs together until they are from the same litter and they are of the same age. Keeping dwarfs from different litters and different age groups might work out sometimes but in many cases, there has been vicious fighting and even death.

Dwarfs also require more taming compared to Syrian hamsters. They have to be handled atleast once a week, otherwise they can become untame unlike syrians who remain tamed for life.

I would not know of any "bad" things about dwarfs, I have owned them for years and find them one of the cutest pets I have ever had.
