Written news article, newspapers, often contain details of an event that television news won't have. Also, items that my not be shown on television are very often printed in the newspaper. And last but certainly not least, there are the daily comics.

Much greater depth of coverage than any other source.  (You could fit an entire 30-minute television news show onto one page of a newspaper.)  

Much more local coverage than you're likely to find elsewhere.

Faster to read than online.  And most online news stories began in newspapers to begin with.

Virtually every important investigative story starts with a newspaper, not with a TV station or blogger.

An opportunity to see an article about something that you might not have realized that you were interested in.
