I need it for a school assignment and I just couldn't figure it out. The biggest difference I see is Here means something closer by you and There means something a bit farther away. Unless you count the T and the No T as a diff.

  1. You got it! Here is beside you, There is over there!

  2. Well usually when you use the word 'here' in a sentence, you mean something that is close to you. When you use the word 'there', then it is usually farther away.

    Picture these sentences:

Here is the book I was talking about.

There is the book I was talking about.

But sometimes we also use here and there to describe different places (I know a sentence can't start with both but it has to start with one of them)

Here is the book I was talking about and your reading glasses are over there.

There is the book I was talking about and your reading glasses are over here.

Hope you understand what I mean. =)

  3. The difference you understand between these two words are correct.

    For example:

    1) Smith is here with me right now. (It suggests the pen is very near.)

    2) The pen is right here near your hand.

    OR

    3) Smith went there with me.

    4) The pen is right there near the table. (It suggests the pen is farther.)

In the case of these examles, this is the right difference.

    BUT

If you are talking about the following examples, then it differs from the other examples.

    The examples are:

    1) Here I come. (I start doing the paritcular action.)

    2) Here we go. (It is used before doing any action means we are atrting to do somethiing)

    3) There you go. (It is formal and means "Take this.")

    4) There she goes. (It means the action takes place now.1)

  4. Here we are, sitting alone, knowing that there will be much preparation to do before out holiday. There will be cases to pack   we cant sit here doing nothing.....No sooner we arrive there than we will be back home here again.  There will be lots of time to reminisce. Its good to be there but equally as good to return here.
