  1. Attractions here in Montreal depend on the time of year, but the go-montreal website can offer some local events for the time you will be in Montreal.

Some of the places I like to take people to see when they come to visit me here are:

    - St. Joseph's Oratory

    - Insectarium

    - Biodome

    - Botanical Gardens

    - Mount Royal Park

    - The Casino de Montreal

    - La Ronde - Six Flags

    - A tour of Old Montreal

    - A tour of the architecture in Westmount

For cusine, you are in luck. Montreal is a gastronomic paradise, and you can find really good food in most restaurants. Try French, Greek, Italian, Chinese, or Lebanese as my recommendations. Here are some good restaurants:

    - Vargas (steak)

    - Baton Rouge (ribs)

    - Schwartz's (smoked meat)

    - Chez Queux (French cuisine)

    - La Caverne Grecque (Greek)

    - La Fonderie (fondues and raclettes)

    - Guido and Angelina's (pasta)

    - Vagos (Italian)

    - Kaizen (sushi)

    - Daou (Lebanese/Middle eastern)

About the only food I have not found a really good restaurant for yet is Mexican. We have Mesa 14 downtown that is pretty good, but it is not spectacular.

For museums, the McCord Museum is very good, and has periodic displays that focus on Canadian history. McGill's Redpath Museum is quite nice too.

While in Montreal, make sure to explore the "underground city" downtown. It contains shops and stores that are linked to various office towers and buildings so Montrealers do not have to step outside during the winter.

Make sure to take a ride on the subway called the "Metro" (safe and reliable).

I'd also recommend doing something in the Montreal area you cannot experience back home. Some examples is a maple sugaring party at a local "Cabane a Sucre" just outside Montreal in spring, or going to the "Festin du Gouverneur" restaurant for dinner and a show in the Quebecois style...you get local folk music, jokes, etc.

Montreal even has a restaurant where you eat entirely in the dark. It is meant for you to experience what it would be like to be blind.
