What are the green and yellow masses in the arctic ocean?

On Microsoft Virtual Earth, northeast of Greenland, you can zoom in and see miles of green and yellow. It looks like chemical waste....................???? Also, do you know of any free satellite ocean/sea sites that allow you up-close shots of the sea?
