  1. Basically, quit your job if you want any help and pop out a bunch of kids (at least in Ohio)

My husband was laid off from his job and we went to try to get help as a ONE TIME thing last spring. Since I work and have worked since I was 16 years old, we were denied because I made $12 too much that month to qualify.

  2. it goes by a lot of factors; income, expenses, number in household. assets. Usually to get medicaid. total assets cannot be over $3000 for food stamps, you have to work so many hours a week to get them.  Each state has different income limits but you can't just go by that.. they have certain deductions they use and you may still qualify if you go over tle limit if you are pregnant or sick or a student..each state has diffrent rules with that. Your best bet is to go to Dept. of Human Services and just fil out application, get an appointment and go from there. For food: hit the food banks or some churches. Medical; try some free/reduced clinics or some medical schools will treat you based on income.
