  1. Carrying and detention of guns are forbidden UNLESS you have a relevant licence (permis de port d'arme or permis de détention d'arme).

    There is a different permit for keeping a gun (detention) and another one for carrying the gun (port).

    If you want to buy a hunting gun, you will be asked to show hunter's permit (granted after an exam).

    Of course this does not apply to army and police.
