  1. my mom got a horrible infection from it..

  2. if they are the disposables, no harm. hard or daily wear reduce the oxygen taken into the eye and can cause majorproblems leading up to blindness!

  3. You need to take out your contacts.  They have to be cleaned.  Your contacts get tear protein on them and it will buildup.

Some of the risks:  iritis - a very serious and painful condition and it constantly reoccurs.

Corneal Ulcers - also very, very, very painful and can cause serious damage that may not be repaired. Can go on for months.

You also run the risk of not being able to wear contacts at all.

It doesn't take that long to take out and clean your contacts.

Those are just some of the risks - there are more.

Had a patient in the office one time that hadn't taken their contacts out in 2 years.  There eyes actually started to grow on to their contacts.  Took some major surgery to get them removed.  It just isn't worth it.  You only have 1 set of eyes - why damage them?

  4. Its really bad on your eyes :/

  5. You should regularly remove your contacts when your not out and about. You have to remember that although the contacts are meant to fit with your eyes, to your body its still a foreign object. Removing your contacts every once in a while will allow them to rest. Leaving them on over night is not recommended because sooner or later your eyes will become irritated and dry. Thats the reason for the contact cleaners, to cleanse them and moisturize them to fit comfortably on the surface of your eye. There have been recordings of infection occuring because a person did not clean their contacts regularly and left them on repeatedly over night.
