  1. The hearts number one function is to pump blood to your bodies extremeties and organs. This blood will carry oxygen and nutrients, etc required for the body to function properly. It then returns to the heart and the cycle begins again - via the heart 'muscle' contracting its chambers in the correct order - in other words - a heartbeat!

  2. The heart functions when we take in oxygen by the process, breathing. Breathing is the process which we take in oxygen from either our nose or mouth.

Basically, the heart is a muscular organ which pumps blood to all parts of the body through the aorta. The aorta is an artery which is the main path that oxygen rich blood travels along to other parts of the body.

It transports oxygen rich part to all organs and our limbs. Once deprived of oxygen, out limbs will go numb. The most crucial part of the body which needs oxygen is the brain. Once deprived of oxygen in no more than seconds, brain cells will start to die off. He/she will be either paralysed or die.

Our heart pumps with the use of a very very small electrical current that flows through it. That is why when a person is shocked by electricity that penetrates into the body which will numb the contraction and relaxation of the pumping of the heart. In turn, it will stop the heart and prevent it from pumping.

This would mean that the person would die.

In fact, the left ventrical of our heart is the most muscular. This is so as they have to withstand the highest pressure so that blood will be able to be transported to even the lowest parts of our body, such as our toes.

    =D good luck
