houses in hawaii

ive been looking at properties for sale and was just wondering why i havnt seen any with swimming pools? do houses in hawaii have swimming pools in their bark yard?

Also you would think being in paradise with lots of lands, the houses would have big gardens, how come most of the houses have a tiny stretch of grass? Where would you need to live in hawaii to have a big garden?

Thanks!!

  1. Houses have pools but the cost $$$$$. And we don't have a lot of land due to the fact we are an island actually we are several island. Houses make more then gardens, therefore if a house has a garden it is small. Or if a house has a lot of land it costs $$$$.

  2. Land costs about $50/SF. So a lot of 5000 SF, will cost $250,000. That is in an average area. In Portlock that goes to $100 to $300 a square feet. In Waikiki, it is $100 to $500 per SF.

If you want a big garden, go to Ewa Beach, Wahiawa, Mililani, Waianae, Nanakuli. Basically anywhere 15 or miles from downtown. That's where land costs less.

  3. The average price of a single family home is over $600 thousand dollars and it will not have a yard big enough for a pool.  So your average home with a pool is probably going to run closer to a million dollars.  There aren't too many people who can afford that.  Land is scarce on an island & because of this is very expensive.  That just about sums it up.

  4. what kind of question is that D: lol =) of course houses here have swimming pools.  It mostly depends on which side of the island you live on though.  Such as there are really huge homes in Portlock, Kahala, and other parts of the island.  While other more urban parts like Kamiloiki, Hawaii Kai, etc. have smaller homes.  You have to remember that we are experiencing lots of overpopulation and now construction companies are making town houses so any huge pieces of land left either belong to government or farms and nurseries.

I live in a waterfront house with a big swimming pool.  And also whatever tropical fantasies you have of Hawaii should be kept in Waikiki because the houses here belong to actual modern people who aren't always just like "oh my god we live in hawaii, plants plants and more PLANTS!!" if a house has a garden it's because the owner created it.  Some people prefer just simple yards.

  5. Definitly not the island of Oahu, trust me i just moved her 2 months ago from florida and this place SUCKS!!! its like putting chicago on an Island and calling it paradise... This place sucks but i herd maui is pretty nice but im not sure.... good luck though!
