What are the ideal fireworks to buy in New Zealand this Guy Fawkes?

I love fireworks, but hardly any retail ones are any good. Does anyone know which shop I should go to for some GOOD fireworks? I live in Auckland and enjoy loud ones especially.

  1. I and my friends also enjoy fireworks in Auckland, so much that we have started testing all our fireworks to find out which fireworks company has the best so we can stock up (as you know, fireworks may be banned next year.)

we will be loading videos of our tests on Youtube at the first opportunity, but for now, here are some of our results:

    WAH LEE:

Terrible. They stock a lot of very tiny pieces, good only for children. Shiny labels though. Their only saving feature is the rumour that they sell double happies and other banned crackers. Wouldn't sell to us though. SCORE: 2/10

    WAREHOUSE:

Also terrible. They claim to be cheaper, but their family packs are mainly made up of packaging. Also have lame fireworks. They used to have the awesome Party Next Door, but one good firework does not save them from being L-A-M-E. SCORE: 3/10

    BAD BOY:

We only discovered this shop a little while ago. They have good advertising and some ok products (mainly Vulcan and Shogun. A decent mix of small and medium fireworks, plus a couple of big ones. Their packs suck though. Their roman candles are their best products (like the Magnolia and such.) Families will get the most out of this shop. SCORE: 5/10

    PYRO COMPANY:

My personal favourite. Relatively new group. Until last year they were selling the best fireworks from other shops, but last year they also started selling packs with their own products. We heard a rumour they will be selling individual items exclusive to Pyro Company this year, which is a bonus if it's true. Their non-exclusive stuff was the best of Thumping Thunder, Vulcan and Shogun, plus a few others. The best stuff in their exclusive packs was the White Spider candle, plus some SERIOUSLY LOUD cakes. Look out for their shop. SCORE: 9/10

    THUMPING THUNDER

I never actually saw their shops, but the rest of the Fireworks Testing Crew brought me some of their fireworks. Pretty cool stuff. A few small square cakes that pack a punch, plus a c andle called the Thumping Thunder 8 shot which is like a shotgun. They were great the year before last, but they went downhill last year with lame ones like "stop drop and roll" and "sweet bro choice." Cool names, but it lost them some credibility. Hard to find the shop. SCORE: 7/10

I hope this answers your questions. If you want results of other brands, let us know!

Videos will hopefully be available soon.
