  1. The meltdown of the ice caps means that there is more water for boating! (Now that I've said something funny, let's get serious.)

    The maritime industry is already examining the fabled "Northwest Passage" that is a proposed travel route from the Atlantic to the Pacific Oceans via the Arctic Ocean. This passage has never been safely clear for large scale shipping before, but experts predict that in the not too distance future that this option will be opened for use. This will add shipping options and take days off of shipping times for some routes.

  2. I do not think the maritime industry will be affected by global warming, it is a fact that the Viking colonies in Greenland were dependent on trade routes of chips from Europe. Once the climate began cooling and the sea ice increased in the northern latitudes the trade with Europe stopped and the Vikings were doomed.
