My husband is in the military and he makes only 1500 a month pay, they give 1450 in BAH it totals 3000 before taxes.

Do they include BAH when they see if you qualify?

  1. I don't think you would qualify. For 2 people in the household $1500 is too much income to qualify for food stamps. Believe me I looked because that is my household income too & I don't qualify, even though half of my family's income is from my husband's VA disability money. I'm pretty sure that BAH is considered income because the money goes directly to you & you spend it whatever way you want (i.e. only $800 for an apartment & the rest on food, etc.). There is an eligibility calculator for DSHS  & other info here: http://www1.dshs.wa.gov/ESA/TEC/

One more thought, if you are an army family talk to the Army Community Services people they are knowledgeable of resources available. The link for Ft. Lewis is here: http://www.lewis.army.mil/dpca/ACS/index...

I know from experience that a military family never gets paid enough & I am very sorry.

  2. You have to make at least $1,861 or below to qualify.

But the link below should give you some answers. I only make $537 a month on disability and I only get $300 a month on foodstamps for both me and my wife.

If you think that this is a lot--just pit this amount against today's rising food prices and you'll see it vanish within 3 to 5 days flat. :0(
