  2. Everything that can not be used or sold.  Seriously, it's supposed to be some kind of ham product.  I can't look on the can, because I don't buy it or eat it.  I've always categorized it with Potted Meat or Vienna Sausages, both of which, I can't make myself try.

    Sorry - I wish I could have given you a Positive answer vs. a Negative One.

        * Chopped pork shoulder meat with ham meat added.

        * Salt (for binding, flavor, and firmness)

        * Water (to help in mixing)

        * Sugar (for flavor)

        * Sodium Nitrite (for color and as a preservative)

I thought after they used the better parts of the pig, they took what was left over and put it into bologna and vienna sausages, the hooves are left for dog chews so that leaves lips and a******s.  Then I saw something in the store that said it used the lips so guess what's left for spam. . . .

  26. spam, like viennies and potted meat, are the scraps of animals..gut linings,lips snot glands butts ears,gums hair  eye balls ears...maybe a little meat off the tail to hald things together, along with fat taster additives etc.

  29. It's mostly just cured pork shoulder -- nothing particularly nasty (or even really interesting) about it. What is interesting is the way they make it -- big chunks of pork embedded in pork slurry, sort of like hot dog filling. It's remarkably similar to concrete, actually.
