  1. UK is the only one I have herad of and the most common arounf the world.

  2. UK   it is part of the United Kingdom

The British get annoyed.....and rightfully so if you use the term England....unfortunately our American history teachers do not make this very clear.

  3. it is either UK for United Kingdom or GB for Great Britain

  4. Most British prefers to use the term "UK" short for United Kingdom. So its London, UK rather London, England.

  5. The United Kingdom is made up of England Ireland Scotland and Wales. Each one is a country on it's own.

Generally England singularly is referred to as GB or Great Britain. However in your case which is more like " How should I address a letter to someone in London" it would be

    Person's name

    Number and Street Address

    City ,Postal Code

Finally because it is a postal letter you would us U.K. as that is the recognized form of address for all of the UK. In talking to people do NOT call people from the other mentioned countries English. The Scots,Welsh and Irish have a little tender spot about that.

  6. Technically, the country of England ceased to exist in 1707 when Scotland and England joined to become Great Britain.  Now they are part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the proper abbreviation is UK.
