  1. to prevent the crop from insects...

  2. The inputs of spraying a crop are the price of chemical/active ingredient of the spray, and the cost of the actual spraying. There are two ways to get get the spraying done. Do it yourself and you have to buy and maintain the sprayer and have the cost of fuel for the tractor as inputs. Most farmers where I live contract with Farm Services to spray for them. They mix the spray and spray with a big self propelled sprayer that covers a thirty foot strip of your field. They are in and out of most fields in thirty minuets, and are cheaper than buying and maintaining your own equipment. The farmer is not exposed to harmful effects of the chemical spray.

  3. The first and most important input is knowledge.

Without knowing exactly what you are doing, how to achiev it with the least material, you should not even look for the other inputs.

In most areas today you have to have certification before you can even buy the chemicals involved, and you could not get the insurance either.

You could buy the equipment, but you would not be allowed to use it without certification and license renewed annually.
