  3. There is ONLY one standard NHL contract.  Within that contract are several sections that are filled out.

    With respect to waivers, buyouts, restrictions, these are not types of contracts, these are conditions agreed to by the NHL and NHLPA that certain clauses can affect.

    For example, clients can have no movement clauses, no trade clauses, or limited variations there of.  This is a checkbox on ONE section of the standard contract.

    Any player without a no-movement clause can be waived without the players consent.  If the player has a no-movement clause, he must consent before being put on waivers.

    Any contract can be bought out if it makes financial sense to do so.
