    Is it a master by coursework, or a masters by research?

    Either way, you can usually direct your studies to major in subjects that you're interested in.  For public health, there are many potential options.

    If you're looking to work in a developed country, then generally you would focus on health policy, health promotion, social health, community health and so on.  If you're more 'sciencey' you may foccus on epidemiology etc.  These will likely lead to work with governments and health institutions/organisations, or community organisations.

    If you're looking to work in developing nations, you may like to focus on primary health, subjects regarding delivering health in resource poor settings, infectious disease epi, and so on.  These are more ikely to lead to jobs with non-government organisations and charities who focus their roles overseas, or among particularly poor communities.

    Either way, as always, it depends also on the quality of the course, the university, and your grades.
