What are the job prospects after TEFL course?

Question

Shall I go for online or regular class room course? How does it affect my job prospects and study during the course?

I live in india. After doing this course, I would like to go abroad for work. As TEFL also has a centre in Calcutta, what is best for me? If, I complete my course from India and then go abroad, will it have any affect on my job prospects?

In terms of its validity, where it stands in the internatinal market? Thanking you in advance for your vlauble suggestions.

Hi,

I am currently living in Spain (I'm Canadian) and I took a TESOL course before coming.  I know you are asking about TEFL but they are similar.  My course was a two week intensive course which had much less hours than most courses.  

In terms of job prospects I would do the regular classroom format.  I would not have wanted to do the TESOL course via Internet.  You need the human interaction and support you get from your new classmates and teacher.  (That's just personal opinion though).  I am not sure if doing it via the Internet makes your job prospects lower but I have a feeling it might.  

Another option for you is CELTA which is recognized worldwide and many schools do not accept teachers without it.  

On the other hand there are schools that prefer you do not have any courses because they train you themselves...

In Spain for example, Vaughan Systems prefers to train their teachers.

The answer depends on where you want to go to teach. It is nice to do a course abroad, as you begin to do real teaching with real foreign students. This prepares you nicely for your career.

Thailand's TEFL certificates are well-regarded in the international market.

Online courses are generally very less effective than real-world classroom training.
