I am a member of a Canadian foundation which has for mission to help childrens in Republica Dominicana. We are recorded with the government of Quebec. I would like to know how we can legally distribute receipts for tax deductions. What steps we need to take.

  1. You need to register your charity with the Canada Revenue Agency to get the registration number before issuing tax deductible receipts.  You need to follow the guidelines and registraton process, because there are many phoney charitable foundations out there giving out phoney donation receipts while the founders pocket the money instead of doing charity works.  Pls see the following guidiance from the CRA:

See also the registration for Quebec charity.  http://www.revenu.gouv.qc.ca/eng/ministe...
