For example how many hours must one work? Is the employer required to provide some sort of plan, is not a contract employee or not an independent contractor?

  1. It depends on the size of the company, but I'm relatively sure that if a employee is receiving a salary rather than a wage or works 40 hours a week or is defined as working "full time" their employer needs to be providing health care or giving money to the state foundation for healthcare so that the state should provide it.

  2. Hello, here you can find some information about health:)

  3. In CA, employers are not required by any law, State or Federal to provide health insurance for their employees.

They can require that the employees be full-time (usually 35-40 hrs per week). Or whatever eligibility they want. BUT if they set up eligibility requirements, they must offer health insurance to all employees that meet those requirements. And, in CA, the employer is required to pay at least 50% of the monthly premium or $100-whichever is less.

  4. I don't know about CA but in OH and NC(places where I have lived) there is no law requiring an employer to provide health care insurance. However most places will provide some type of insurance to an employee with the employee sharing a great portion of the cost.

  5. It's not a law for employers to provide insurance. It's a benefit
