What are the laws in Tennessee regarding a homeowner shooting an intruder?

You would use the 'self defense' provisions in the TN code: if you are at home,  and you feel you are being threatened by somebody who has broken in, you can defend yourself, your family and your home, up to and including deadly force. Excessive use of force is to be watched out for - one the intruder turns tail and runs (or is incapacitated), further force against him is not so protected.
