What are the laws regarding grandparents rights when a couple is happily married?

The couple agrees they do not want the grandparents around the child - but do not have any solid legal reasons such as abuse or neglect...

  1. There is no such thing as grandparents rights. Grand parenting is a privilege not a right.

I don't think you can get a restraining order or anything if they havn't done anything to your child, but if you don't want them around the kid that is your choice.  It is your child and maybe you don't agree with the morals or what ever your reasons, you have every right to make those decisions for your child.  

  3. It depends on your state.  In some states, grandparents can petition the courts for visitation.  Check with a lawyer.

  4. this is for both you and heather.  there are real grandparent rights out there, by law, if there is no legal reason like you stated all the grandparents have to do is go to the court and tell them, then of course there is a big ole thing.  if there is no logical or legal reason for the parents to keep their kids away from their parents, that is really very very sad, i don't know what i would have done growing up with out my grandparents.  i miss them every day.

  5. They are your kids but if you don't want your kids to have any contact with their grandparents that is a decision that you decided to do. In my opinion that is retarded. Your husband and you must really hate your parents to do something like that.
