  1. Yes, the Seine runs through Paris.  The Louvre (once palace, now art gallery and museum) stands on its right bank.

    I've always called them the "Rive Gauche" (Left Bank) and "Rive Droite" (Right Bank).

  2. The river that runs thru Paris is the Seine and not the Louvre.

    The banks are referred to as the Right and Left banks with the Left Bank sometimes referred to as "the Latin Quarter" although this term really applies only to the 5th arrondissement.
