I'm sixteen and I live in Iowa. I'm trying to figure out how late I'm legally allowed to be out driving. Because there is this midnight book release party that me and friends really want to go to, but I'm not sure if I can just drive myself there and back. Or if my friends and I need to get an adult to bring us.

If you can help, or tell me how to find out I would greatly appreciate it! I've already been searching the DMV site and all could find is that I do have designated hours. But I couldnt find what those are.

  1. Attached is the Iowa Department of Driver Services website. It also contains contact numbers where you could call and specifically ask someone .

As a general rule, most states it is no driving after dark or passengers for 6 months unless accompanied by an adult. and up to age 18, midnight to 6 am is the period of time young drivers are not allowed on the road unless in the case of an emergency or pre- arranged work or school event. But my advice is to contact your local DDS

  2. 10 Am- about 10Pm

  3. I don't know about in Iowa, but in Texas, you are not allowed to drive from 12 am - 5am (in less in an emergency) for the first six months after getting your license.

  4. Where I live anytime
