  1. Typically, assuming you are a full time student, an Associate degree comes first and takes two years to complete. This is usually done at a community college.

A Bachelor's degree is completed next from a four year institution. The credits that you have gained in completing your Associate's degree can be used towards the four years it takes to obtain a BA.

A Master's degree comes next and typically takes two years to complete.

Depending on the type of school you plan to work at you can gain different levels of education in the ECE world. I have several friends who teach pre-school at private centers and only have their Associate degrees. If you wish to enter the public school world, you will need a Bachelor's degree and eventually a Master's.

  2. associates-2 year, bach-4 years, masters-2 years beyond bach.  you must have a bach to get a masters, but you do not have to have an associates to get your bach.  you generally cannot teach on an associates degree though.  the others you can.  requirements vary depending on the state and school you attend.  talk to your advisor for any specifics, and good luck!
