What are the licensure requirements for special ed. teachers in florida ?

i have the information on how to be licensed as a teacher in florida but i am looking for specific information on training and licensure requirements to be a teacher for austistic students. (or similar 'special' student's teacher).

  1. First you would have to take the exceptional student education subject area exam.  When I started teaching a few years back that's all you had to do to add ESE cert.  to your certificate.   There is also an Autism endorsement that you should look into if you want to work with that population.  I know with my Pre-K endorsement and Reading endorsement I have to provide evidence of classes, training etc. in specific areas and then the state issues the endorsement.


  2. Anyone can get a license in Florida by taking the ESE exam, even if your BA or MA is in a totally different field because it is an area of extreme need. You will actually be given a class to teach, but you will also be required to take the ESE coursework on line while you are teaching. I've heard that the amount of work in these on line classes is huge.

    Now, for the other part. Why on earth as an educated person do you think it is OK to write without using punctuation? You better be very careful if you plan to write any essays for a school district.
