  1. where i work you need to be able to swim free, back, and breast, as well as get first aid, lifeguard, and cpr training from the red cross.


  2. you have to swim 300-500 yards depending on instructer using front crawl and or breast stroke. you also have to pass a cpr for pro. test and first aid test. you will be doing surface dives to rescue a submerged victim and have to tow someone to safety using the rescue tube. pulling someone out of the pool with a backboard will also be taught. if you are talking about being a pool,waterpark,or water front(lakes and rivers) then you will have to go through the red cross. go on te red cross website youll find all the info. there.
