  1. The main limitation of ev's is they don't use petrol, so do not provide income for the major global oil companies.

ie you can refuel at home or office from any electric supplier, or your own generator.

Second limitation is all the macho motoring industry & media that like things noisy dirty & smelly and that constantly need maintenace, feel very threatened by the coming peak oil so totally blank any ev development.

Current battery technology can provide a range of 200-300 miles, recharge in 10 minutes and have a lifetime >15 years even when used every day http://www.batteryvehiclesociety.org.uk/...

And they can help optimise the power grid too http://www.acpropulsion.com/technology/v... essential for renewable generation, so again the limitation is fewer fossil fuel power are required.

In cities, especially traffic clogged ones like Manilla, the number of people dying or made ill by diesel particulate emmissions is in the thousands, so the medical industry would lose a lot of income if we started to use ev's.

For the Phillipines you would not need to import so much oil, so your balance of trade and economy would improve, this could threaten the US hedgemony based on loans/debt & finacial control.

  2. Max range is about 200 miles. To add more batteries will increase the weight of the vehicle as well as the range.

  3. Well, one guy hit the nail on the head.  Its the batteries.  They are very heavy and you have to supply the energy to haul them around as well as yourself and your cargo.

The next problem with the batteries is the cost, and replacement.  Even at $4.00 a gallon the cost of batteries is about the same as buying gas for 3 or 4 years, and guess what at some point the batteries will have to be replaced.

  4. Very expensive, Primary use is for Urban areas because of travel range between charges. Normal 20 Amp house circuit charge is very slow. Fast charging requires very heavy power source which most homes do not have.

  5. IDK

  6. Battery has a low energy density.  Meaning, amount of energy stored in a given volume/weight (in comparison with gasoline or other form of Chemical energy source).

The biggest problem is "recharging cycle time".  Pump in 15 gallon of gasoline only takes about 10 mins and pump in enough energy to power the car for 200 miles will take at least 2 hours on average.

Philippine is hot which degrades the lifetime of the battery.

  7. They increase your electricity bill.

They are extremely heavy because they need multiple batteries.

They can only go a few hundred miles at most before recharging.

  8. The limitations are the battery and how it's charged .  The batteries ability to hold a charge is limited .  At this time batteries will be drained of power in less than 200 miles .  The recharge time is often as long as 4 hours .  There is also no guarantee that the electricity charging the battery is from a clean source .
