What are the little "pods" growing off my little potato plants, they look like tiny (thumbnail)tomatoes.?

I'm growing small blue, red and white potatoes from sprouted organic potatoes. they are very robust and I"ve gotten about 10 new potatoes off one vine, but now another (blue potato I think) has several clusters of tiny (thumbnail cubed size) ?balls? that look like tiny green tomato's . with tiny stem, same shape, green, with little leaves by the stem. I cut one open and it looks and I think, smells like a tiny tomato that needs more development.. all this from a POTATO plant. What the heck are these? thanks in advance!

the two plants are related, ya know?....

the little fruits are toxic, too....
