What are the little tiny white animals that live in the sand?

i am on vacation in flordia and while on the beach today digging in the sand i found little tiny fast white animals which kinda look like a little turtle/ slash crab mix and i was wondering if any one new what they were. Also they live in the sand right by the waves

They are mole crabs and are known locally as "sand fleas."  They are often used as fish bait.

in my opinion, it seems to me that you're describing a sand crab. in california, you often find them on santa cruz beach. they're fast, aren't they? :)
