They are used for breaking up rock , concrete, driving wedges in blocks of wood when a splitting maul is stuck. Carpenters use them around job sides a lot........if you want to move a wall ....when framing . Breaking down concrete block walls, driving huge wedges.......just depends on their weights as what you can do with them............I had one that I welded a 3"square head on for driving footing stakes.......it's a lot better than a short handle...........but all ones choice of course. good luck
