  1. Waste. There is no need to flush toilets or water lawns with drinking water. There is no need to use disposable items. There is no need to fill a garbage can every week with packaging. There is no need to run an airconditioner all day while you are at work. There is no need to show up 20 minutes before school ends to get to the front of the line to pick up your kid and let the engine run so you can have your SUV cool and drive your kid 1 mile to your house, meanwhile suffocating the person in the car behind you  (sorry a personal pet peeve)

All of our resources would last longer if we conserved them.

  2. Depleting?    Or, using?    You're aware, I hope, that Ehrlich lost, and Simon won, their bet?

  3. Greed.

  4. Corporate greed.

  5. The simple act of using them causes their depletion

  6. An infestation of Caterpillar D11Rs.  They are more destructive than termites.

  7. Quite simply extraction --> particularly over extraction at a faster rate than the resource is renewed.

Pollution and ecological disruption also play a part. Call it collateral damage.

  8. lack of awareness about renewable sources of energy

  9. using and wasting of them.
