What are the main differences between Hong Kong and Shanghai?

Money. Shanghai has vry nice shopping, and it is not so costly. Hong Kong you need lots of money to live there or you live very poor. I like Shanghai because it thebuildings not so close to each other like Hong Kong, and there is much more to see and do and more places to go to.

One is 7 million the other 14, i fail to see how this excludes comparison - in fact it is a comparison!!!

1) hong Kong has a smaller population and is more densely populated.

2) HK is more expensive but salary levels are higher

3)HK has different laws and regulation and is more democratic and capitalistic

4) HK is hotter in the summer and warmer in the winter generally speaking

5) In general it Shanghai is more affordable and offers a better lifestyle (in my experience)

in many ways..... culture, language, living style, food, bldgs, character, english.....weather, humid.... we hv a harbour n they dun. ppl in HK learn Eng since they r in kindergarten. but shanghainese need to pay to learn extra. so not many ppl know Eng on the street. we hv int'l cuisine/culture in HK. anyway, in between shanghainese + HKnese... we know we had a lot diff.
