Okay we all know that Jews & Muslims don't accept that Jesus was the son of god, and that Jews & Muslims have food restrictions but beyond that, what are the main differences in terms of belief? It's just it seems to me that they're all fundamentally the same...

  1. The big point here is that Judaism is very old- from the time of  Abraham around 2200 b.c.

Both Islam and Catholicism started at about the same time around 600 a.d. with the first pope- Gregory, and Islam with Mohammad.

  2. Yes, you are right they are fundamentally the same.

They all believe in one Supreme Being. Jews do not think that Jesus was the son of God but still most Jews believe that a Messiah is coming. Muslims do not believe Jesus was the son of God but most believe that he was a Prophet and that he did exist.

Actually, to me, all religions that believe in a Supreme being are basically that same. Even if that religion believes, for example, that the Sun or Moon is the ultimate spirit because still, they believe in a Supreme Deity.

  3. As Bart Simpson said:"the stupid little differences are less important than the big stupid similarities".  All three reject the Scriptures, and the Savior of the Scriptures, YAHOSHUA.

  4. Muslims and Jews don't believe that God is a trinity.

  5. In a nut shell  - Jews do not believe Jesus was the Messiah, the son of God or the living embodiment of God. They follow the Torah.

Muslims believe Jesus was a prophet but not a deity. They follow the Koran

Catholics believe that Jesus the son of god was conceived divinely by a women who had no "original sin" on her soul [a nifty trick to get around Mary not being Baptized]. Was crucified, died and was buried, rose again and ascended into heaven. His apostle Peter went on to found the Catholic church. They follow a Catholic bible that was compiled in the 4th century CE by church leaders.

  6. Well, sometimes I feel like Islam is more geared towards the happiness of men. There isn't much for girls to look forward too, especially when it comes to their idea of Heaven. But that's just me.

The other two seem more relaxed, too. but, again, that's just my opinion I don't look down on any of those religions.

  7. Jews believe in the Tanakh as their holy scripture, that would be the Old Testament. Catholicism is a branch of Christianity which follows that Yeshua of Nazareth is the Messiah and follow the New Testament. And Islam believes that the Jews and Christians screwed up the writings of Allah (God), and so had their prophet, Mohammad, rewrite the scripture in a doctrine called the Qu'ran.

  8. OK, the Jews and Muslims are also, both, circumcised. The Muslims have the legacy of the Jewish Kipot in their Hijab and they wear skull caps like the yarmulkes and so on.

But, essentially, the difference between the Jews and the Christians is that the Jews do not accept Jesus, period. Insofar as they are concerned, He was just another of those who were called the Moschiach, but, He wasn't.

The difference between the Christians and the Muslims is that the Christians do not accept Mohammad as the last Prophet.

Other than these main differences, there are many, but, they pale before these vital ones.

    Peace.

    PS,

Do they appear to be the same?

    To some extent, Yes.

However, they differ from each other.

For example, the Jewish Moschiach [aka Messiah] shall be born to normal parents as a normal man.

Jesus was born of a Virgin.

He shall rebuild the Temple. This wasn't done by Jesus and is yet to be done.

While the basic part of the Torah/Tanakh/Old Testament may be common to all three, it's at the end that they differ.

Christianity, not necessarily Catholic, believes in Jesus Christ [actual name being Yeshua or Yehoshua bar Joseph el Nazrany; which someone who is an expert in Aramaic can detail better] being the Messiah and the last Messenger of God as His Son.

    Judaism rejects this.

Islam claims that Mohammad was the last Prophet, while accepting Jesus as al Massihe.

    Christians reject this.

So, the difference is that agree to disagree, essentially.

Yes, if you don't look at these differences, then, essentially, they are the same Faith, to the major extent.

    ST

    PPS,

The practical mundane [every day] differences that you asked for are:-

Judaism, Christianity and Islam have different days for the Sabbath. The Jewish Sabbath [Day of Rest] begins at Friday evening and ends at Saturday evening. The Christians have Sunday and the Muslims have Friday as the Sabbath.

Eating of meat that is not "kosher" or "halaal" is forbidden to both Jew and Muslim, while the Christian has no such restriction.

Neither Jew nor Muslim may eat shell fish or shark or fish that have no scales. Christians are exempt of this. Of course, both the Jews and Muslims may not eat the flesh of any animal that has the cloven hoof but does not chew the cud, ergo, pork is out. Christians have no such restriction.

Neither Jew nor Muslim women may marry outside their Religion. If they do, they are, automatically, excommunicated. This is not a restraint to the Christian.

Other than this, the Ten Commandments are the basis of all the rules for all three of them.

All three of them are followers of the "God of Abraham".

All three of them believe in One God or are monotheistic.

  9. I am a muslim so I can tell you straight up. Firstly, women are given equal rights to men in the Quran (the equivalent of a bible), it's just that we have a lot of idiot men in out religion (as in all religions) who like to twist the facts and make it better for themselves. Those people and "fundamentalists" are all idiots and if they do in fact believe in Allah "our god" then they know what's coming to them - h**l.

For the guy who reckons we are all terrorists, we aren't - I certainly am not, though there are a lot of them around, and like I said, they will get what's coming to them.

We believe in Jesus too, but we don't consider him the son of god - he is the messenger. Mohammed is also a messenger (the last one), and he is of particular importance because he bought the Quran to us

  10. gyp you, strip you, and rip you.
