  1. It is hard to pinpoint exact features because of such great diversity within those national groups. For example, there are one billion people living in China which include different ethnic groups such as Hans, Manchurians, and Uygars. Added to that factor, the Japanese have invaded China so many times there has been a lot of racial mixing. Filipino's look more Spanish due their Spanish influence. You would have to view a survey of them to get a general idea on how to tell them apart. But it is still hard.

The general rule of thumb you may use is the further North they are, the lighter the skin. As you progress towards the South, skin tones get darker.

  2. Well this hard. People have told me that Fillipino's are a combination of both Asian and Latin blood so therefore their skin is the darkest and their body types are a cross between the two with some being short, but thick, while others being slim and with good body figures. Korean and Vietnamese are really light complexioned so they look more pale white and their figures are usually very slim. Chinese tend to be light with a hint of brown giving them a kind of bronze look to them and that goes the same with Japanese people as well. Both Chinese and Japanese people have the same kinds of figures varying between slim to medium build. All Asian races have high cheekbones.

  3. As you can probably figure, people who live close to the equator usually have darker skin tones, as they would have to build up a lot of melanin to handle the sun (very unscientific, I know :/).

Korean, Japanese, and Chinese often have much lighter skin tones than Vietnamese and Filipinos.  This isn't always the case, but roll with me here.

I believe Filipino's have a bit of European blood in them (Spanish, in particular) due to some Spanish colony settling from way back, so they'll have more European facial features than their other Asian counterparts.  In addition, there's a substantial population of Chinese, too.

  4. There isn't much of a difference between Koreans and Japanese, i can vaguely remember my japanese teacher saying something about a slight  difference in the bridge of their noses.

Japanese and Korean people tend to have fairer skin than Chinese and Vietnamese.

And Fillipino people have very dark skin.
