  1. just tell

  2. buy blue ray no disadvantages but they've beaten hd & hd will stop being made soon. like when VHS overtook beatamax videos in the eighties

  3. What does it matter?  Toshiba is't going to make anymore HD DVD players, Blu-ray is now the only Hi Def DVD option.

  4. the main disadvantage of hd-dvd is that it's going to be completely out of the picture soon..

Blu-Ray is like VHS and HD-DVD is like Beta  (if you remember the old VCR wars)

  5. you can buy bluray, hd dvd  is dead.

The difference here to beta max and vhs is tha blu ray is the best, where as betmax was better but lost out against better marketing.

  6. heres one: hd dvd has been discontinued. we won.

  7. Blu-ray is supported, HD-DVD isn't (except for X-Box)

  8. Blu-ray packs data into a tighter single spiral on the surface of a disc than HD-DVD. That means a single disk can carry more digital “pits” – the tiny zeroes and ones that are translated into audio and digital content when a disc is played.

That means that a Blu-ray discs can carry more information "per layer" (or, if you like, "spiral"). But it also makes the two formats incompatible.

Both will play standard DVDs but the Blu-ray system will be more expensive than HD-DVD would have been.  For those that make comparisons to the videotape war of the 80s it is worth realising that Betamax was far superior in terms of picture and sound quality!

  9. dsclimb1 is correct bluray has finally one the battle don't waste your money on a HD-DVD player you wont get the latest dvd releases on it as the biggest film company's have gone over to bluray exclusively
