  1. i also agree [im not trying to copy cat] but i pretty sure all muscles are used in ballet :]

  2. Every single muscle is used in ballet. Unlike soccer or basketball which are team sports, in ballet, you can only depend on your self so every part of your body is involved. The parts which are used the most overall are the abs becaue they help you pull up for turns or long holds. Also having strong arms is VERY important because you have to push down to pull up which creates an opposite effect and makes the dancer pull up. When en pointe, the calves are used a lot also. Also in ballet you always are on the ball of your foot which also has muscles. In any kind of leg lifs your inner thigh is REALLY working to lift the leg high

  3. you will need to stretch, and and strengthen ALL parts of your legs.

your back and legs will need to be flexible for doing splits, etc....

make sure your ankles are strong.

you do pretty much use every muscle, but i hope this helped!

  4. I'd agree with the person who said almost every muscle. However, it takes time to learn how to use them all correctly and at the same time. I just got back from a ballet intensive in Chicago, during which I was sore almost every day for the entire 5 weeks. Now I'm back and between the contemporary class and two advanced ballet classes I've taken, I'm sore just about everywhere.

  5. Well you pretty much use every muscle! I can't say there is one single muscle that you will use, so be preparied to use them all!

  6. you use your inner thighs, your quads, your arms (elbow up), your back (definitely), your calves, and your toes and ankles and everything!
